Li Qiang calls for people-centered internet development at Wuzhen Summit
Chinese Premier Li Qiang advocated for a people-centered approach to internet development during his keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the 2026 World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit in Zhejiang Province.
Addressing the rapid integration of artificial intelligence with internet technologies, Li noted that the internet is undergoing an intelligent transformation and a systemic leap. He emphasized that the ultimate goal of technological advancement should be to promote the all-round development of humanity, rather than making humans subordinate to technology or increasing developmental disparities.
Li highlighted that internet-related technologies should enhance human capabilities, expand choices, and improve well-being. He also called for the construction of a community with a shared future in cyberspace, stating that China intends to pursue innovation through openness, promote technology transfer, and collaborate with other nations to foster an inclusive and dynamic digital ecosystem.
