Chinese red meat delegation tours Western Australian industry
A delegation of Chinese red meat industry representatives recently completed a week-long tour of Western Australia’s livestock and processing sectors. The visit aimed to strengthen cooperation between the Australian and Chinese cattle and red meat industries.
Supported by the National Foundation for Australia China Relations, the program was delivered by Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) in partnership with the Australian Meat Industry Council (AMIC). The initiative allowed Chinese delegates to inspect Australian production systems, food safety standards, livestock traceability, animal welfare frameworks, and processing capabilities.
Andrew Cox, MLA general manager for international markets, stated that the visit provided opportunities for industry leaders to develop relationships and share knowledge. The program is part of a broader Australia-China cattle and red meat industry cooperation project designed to support technical dialogue and collaboration between stakeholders in both nations.
