Chinese SUVs Jaecoo 7 and Jetour Traveller Rival British Range Rover and Defender

The Chinese‑made Jaecoo 7, built on Chery’s T1X multi‑energy platform, is offered as a plug‑in hybrid with a large interior and a price far below that of comparable European models. British journalist Jeremy Clarkson, testing the vehicle for The Times, called it “the third best‑selling car in the UK” and praised that “everything you could reasonably want or need is included”.

Another Chinese model, the Jetour Traveller, mirrors the iconic shape of the Land Rover Defender with a boxy high‑ground‑clearance design but sells for a fraction of the original’s cost. The Traveller has achieved strong sales in China and is being positioned for export, highlighting how Chinese manufacturers are narrowing the quality gap while providing cheaper alternatives to established Western 4×4s.
