Chinese Taipei Blue wins third place in William Jones Cup
In the William Jones Cup, Chinese Taipei Blue defeated Chinese Taipei White to secure third place. Despite facing significant roster challenges, including injuries and players resting for the upcoming Asian Games, the Blue team managed to execute their defensive strategy effectively, specifically targeting opponent scoring and limiting fast breaks.
Key performers for the Blue team included Raymond Emmens, who recorded 18 points and 11 rebounds, Tan Jie-long with 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Kuo Chun-yen with 15 points. The White team struggled with perimeter shooting, converting only 3 of 26 three-point attempts.
Taiwanese-American guard Che Yu-cheng made his debut for Chinese Taipei White. Despite arriving in Taiwan less than 24 hours prior following a training trip to Australia, he contributed 5 points, including a long-range three-pointer, along with 1 rebound and 1 assist in 12 minutes of play. Head coach Chen Tzu-wei praised Che's professional attitude and maturity despite his limited physical recovery time.
