Chinese tourist escapes kidnapping attempt in Thailand

A 29-year-old Chinese woman narrowly escaped kidnapping while traveling in Thailand. After meeting an individual on social media who claimed to be a friend in Singapore, the woman was advised to visit Thailand first. Upon arriving in Bangkok, she was picked up by a vehicle she believed was a tour service, but she was subsequently assaulted, bound, and blindfolded by four men.

The kidnappers attempted to transport her toward the Thai-Myanmar border. During the journey, the vehicle encountered a police checkpoint in Kamphaeng Phet province. After the driver attempted to evade the checkpoint, police fired at the vehicle's tires. The woman managed to jump from the moving car to escape.

Thai police have arrested all four suspects. Investigators believe the incident is linked to human trafficking networks, specifically targeting individuals to be sold into cybercrime scam centers in Myanmar. Authorities are currently working to identify the mastermind behind the operation.
