Chinese tourist hospitalized after disturbance at KLIA

A 27-year-old Chinese tourist has been admitted to the psychiatric ward at Kajang Hospital following a disturbance at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1.

According to KLIA police chief Ravi Munusamy, the woman was observed in the international departure hall shouting in Mandarin, singing, dancing, and running around, which caused alarm among travelers. Witnesses reported the woman also made aggressive gestures and shouted questions regarding whether Singapore and Japan would ‘surrender,’ as well as making a threat stating, ‘If I die in Malaysia, we’ll all die together!’

Initial investigations indicate the woman arrived in Malaysia on August 6 and was scheduled to return to China on August 18. Authorities suspect the woman was experiencing a mental health crisis and noted she did not appear to be under the influence of drugs. The Chinese embassy has been informed of the incident, and the woman is reported to be in stable condition.
