Chinese tourist missing after accepting ride from stranger in Bangkok

A 24-year-old Chinese tourist, Qi Ming, has gone missing in Thailand after accepting a ride from a stranger at Suvarnabhumi International Airport. Following a trip to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Qi arrived in Bangkok on August 2 via Malaysia Airlines flight MH784.

Reports indicate that after landing, an individual offering a lift to Chiang Mai approached her. Qi entered the vehicle, and all communication with her ceased immediately thereafter. Unverified online claims suggest she may have been traveling with someone she met recently through social media, and rumors have circulated regarding her potential involvement with scam compounds in Myanmar, though authorities have not confirmed these details.

The Chinese Embassy in Thailand confirmed on August 11 that the family has requested assistance. The embassy is guiding the family through the necessary procedures to file a formal report with Thai police and has pledged continued support. Investigations into her whereabouts are ongoing.
