Chintha Jerome elected as first female DYFI Kerala president

Chintha Jerome has been elected as the first female state president of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) Kerala unit. The announcement was made during the organization’s 16th state conference held in Thrissur.

In addition to Jerome’s historic appointment, M. Vijin, a Kalliasseri MLA and former SFI state secretary, was elected as state secretary, while R. Rahul from Alappuzha was named treasurer. To ensure future gender parity, the DYFI passed constitutional amendments guaranteeing a minimum of 20 percent female representation across all committees.

Jerome, a member of the DYFI Central Committee and the CPI-M State Committee, holds a doctorate in English Literature from the University of Kerala. Her appointment comes as the parent party, CPI-M, seeks to strengthen its political standing in the region. Former Thiruvananthapuram Mayor Arya Rajendran was inducted into the 25-member State Secretariat.
