Chioggia implements waste service changes for Goliath crane transport
Logistical operations are underway in the Val da Rio port area of Chioggia to transport and load the second of two massive Goliath cranes. Following a 14-hour sea voyage, the crane will be delivered to the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone to join its twin.
Due to the complexity of these maneuvers, the local municipality and the waste management company, Veritas, have announced temporary changes to urban hygiene services on September 2 and 3. The collection center in Borgo San Giovanni will be closed to the public, and bulky waste home collection services will be suspended.
Additionally, waste collection in Chioggia's historic center and Sottomarina will be rescheduled, primarily occurring during evening and night hours. Local businesses will also face disruptions, as the daily collection of paper and cardboard for commercial users cannot be guaranteed during the operation. Authorities have requested that business owners retain their packaging on-site until services are fully restored.
