Chios businesses receive wildfire relief payments

The Greek government has completed payments under a special support scheme for businesses affected by the 2025 wildfires in Chios. The initiative was implemented by the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection in collaboration with the Ministry of National Economy and Finance and the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE).

A total of 509,643.30 euros was distributed to 59 businesses within the Chios regional unit. This follows the successful completion of the second phase of the program, where applications were submitted via the AADE myBusinessSupport platform between July 27 and August 7.

The aid targets private businesses that experienced a turnover reduction of at least 5% between July and December 2025 compared to their five-year average. Individual grants range from a minimum of 3,000 euros to a maximum of 50,000 euros, adhering to European Commission regulations. Additionally, a process is underway to provide compensation for businesses that suffered direct material damage to assets, such as equipment and raw materials.
