Chios student transport faces delays due to failed tenders

Student transportation services in the North Aegean region, particularly on the island of Chios, face delays at the start of the new school year. Due to unsuccessful tenders and a lack of bids from industry professionals, approximately 208 students in southeastern Chios, specifically within the Agios Minas municipal unit, will experience delays in their transport services.

To mitigate the issue, between 350 and 400 students will utilize student tickets, a process being implemented in Chios for the first time following a request from the civil KTEL and approval from the Regional Governor. Authorities are working to fully cover all transportation needs by the end of September.

In other parts of the region, the situation varies: 90% of students in Lesvos are expected to begin transport on September 11, while conditions in Lemnos and Samos are reported as being at a very good level. Ikaria is also facing some minor difficulties.
