Chip Roy calls for investigation into Islamic development near Texas military base

U.S. Representative Chip Roy has requested that federal officials investigate a planned Islamic community development located less than 20 miles from the Camp Bullis Military Training Reservation in San Antonio, Texas.

Following a report by the RAIR Foundation, Roy sent a letter to the U.S. Attorney General, the Secretary of War, and the Secretary of the Treasury. He requested an examination of whether the Northside Islamic Center of San Antonio (NICSA) has violated any criminal, civil, financial, or immigration statutes during its campus expansion project.

The proposed 7.25-acre campus is expected to include a mosque, housing, K-12 educational institutions, and businesses. The RAIR Foundation report alleges that NICSA leaders have partnered with Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated organizations for fundraising and have solicited donations from unknown international sources. Additionally, the report highlights video footage of NICSA’s main imam, AbdulRahman Kattab, discussing the October 7, 2023, Hamas-led attacks in Israel.
