Chirag Paswan and Ramdas Athawale defend Election Commission amid CJP protests

Union ministers Chirag Paswan and Ramdas Athawale have defended the central government and the Election Commission of India following protests led by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP). The protests in Delhi were sparked by allegations of irregularities regarding the revision of electoral rolls and the removal of voter names.

Chirag Paswan accused the CJP of attempting to “create anarchy” and stated that the Centre acted appropriately to bring the situation under control. While Paswan previously questioned security clampdowns, he has since criticized the demonstrations, alleging they were used by anti-social elements to pursue specific agendas. He also ruled out the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Ramdas Athawale echoed these sentiments, asserting that the CEC will not resign and warning that protesters could face imprisonment. Addressing the deletion of voter names, Athawale noted that approximately 13 crore names were removed nationwide for various reasons, arguing that these deletions affected voters across the political spectrum, including those supporting the ruling coalition.
