Chisco Group donates buses to Ikoyi custodial centre

The Chisco Group has donated two buses to the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Ikoyi, Lagos, to facilitate the transportation of awaiting-trial inmates to court. The vehicles, which can carry up to 100 people depending on security configurations, were provided to address logistical challenges within the Nigerian criminal justice system.

The Nigerian Correctional Service has noted that a lack of reliable transport vehicles contributes to delays in resolving cases. The Ikoyi facility currently holds over 3,000 awaiting-trial inmates, and inadequate mobility can lead to missed court appearances and prolonged legal proceedings.

The donation was made by Chisco Group Founder and Executive Chairman, Chief Chidi Anyaegbu, to mark his 70th birthday. The initiative also includes a commitment to supporting inmate rehabilitation efforts across the country.
