Chitrakoot Police arrest member of interstate vehicle theft gang
Chitrakoot Police have arrested Dhanraj Singh Patel, a 49-year-old resident of Obari, Bargarh, as part of an investigation into an interstate vehicle theft gang. This arrest follows the previous apprehension of five other suspects involved in similar crimes.
The gang reportedly targeted vehicles parked in crowded areas, specifically targeting pilgrims visiting religious sites during Amavasya and other festivals. According to police, the group used old keys to steal vehicles from parking lots and near temples.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to two specific thefts: a Bolero stolen on August 14 in front of Hotel Gurukrupa and another Bolero stolen on August 16 from the Kamtanath parking area. Authorities are continuing their investigation to recover stolen vehicles and identify any further accomplices.
