Chivas de Guadalajara takes Liga MX lead with 3-0 win over Pumas

Chivas de Guadalajara secured the top spot in the Liga MX Apertura 2026 tournament following a dominant 3-0 victory over Pumas UNAM at Estadio Akron. The win brings Chivas to 17 points, allowing them to overtake Toluca in the standings.

Santiago Sandoval was the standout performer for Chivas, scoring twice. He opened the scoring with a header in the 3rd minute and added a second goal with a long-range strike in the 56th minute. Bryan González completed the scoring in the 67th minute with a shot from a difficult angle.

Pumas UNAM, managed by Esteban Solari, remains in 10th place with 11 points. Despite efforts from players like Pedro Vite and Rubén Duarte, the team was unable to overcome the Chivas defense. Chivas now prepares to face Club América in the upcoming Clásico Nacional.
