Chivas defeats América 2-0 in friendly Clásico Nacional

Chivas defeated América 2-0 in a friendly Clásico Nacional match held at the Oakland Coliseum in California. Ángel Sepúlveda was the standout performer, scoring both goals for Guadalajara. The first goal came in the 13th minute via a penalty following a handball by Alejandro Zendejas, and Sepúlveda secured his double with a header in the 23rd minute.

The match was marked by high intensity and several physical confrontations between players, including an early altercation between Erick Sánchez and Daniel Aguirre. Despite the tension, Chivas maintained defensive order throughout the second half to protect their lead.

Following the international break, América is preparing to return to Liga MX action in the Apertura 2026 tournament. Manager Guillermo Almada confirmed the squad is largely complete for their upcoming match against Rayados de Monterrey. The team is also looking toward their 110th-anniversary celebrations at the Estadio Azteca.
