Armando González nears transfer from Chivas to Olympiacos
Mexican striker Armando ‘Hormiga’ González is nearing a transfer from Chivas de Guadalajara to the Greek club Olympiacos. Following intense negotiations and multiple offers, reports indicate that a definitive agreement has been reached between the two clubs.
The deal is reportedly valued at approximately 8.5 million euros in fixed fees, plus an additional 2 million euros in performance-based variables. As part of the agreement, Chivas is expected to retain a 10% stake in any future sale of the player. González, a 23-year-old international who recently participated in the 2026 World Cup, has been a standout performer for Chivas, recording 29 goals in 69 matches.
While Chivas initially sought to uphold a 15 million euro release clause, the improved offer from the Greek side has paved the way for the move. González’s representative has been in Greece to finalize contractual details, and the player is expected to travel to Athens shortly to undergo medical examinations and complete the signing. Chivas coach Gabriel Milito has stated that the club supports the player's decision to pursue his dream of playing in Europe and noted that the squad remains complete despite the potential departure.
