Chlóraka “Palloures” Chalcolithic Site Yields New Insights in Cyprus

Archaeologists from the University of Leiden, led by Dr. Maria Chatzigavriil, presented the results of excavations at the Chalcolithic settlement of Chlóraka “Palloures” in Cyprus. The discoveries include residential structures, tombs, unique metal objects and a large number of figurines, enriching knowledge of the culture and daily life of pre‑historic Cyprus.

The mission, ongoing since 2015 after an invitation from the Department of Antiquities of Cyprus, aims to understand the evolution of Chalcolithic societies, the transition from the Middle to the Late Chalcolithic period, and the organization of the settlement. Children participated in hands‑on activities, and Andreas Kyriakou, president of the Cultural Environmental Association of Chlóraka, praised the event as an investment in preserving the village’s heritage for future generations.
