Cho Lach launches pilot e-commerce initiative in Vietnam

The Cho Lach commune in Vietnam has launched a pilot initiative known as the ‘E-commerce Commune-Cho Lach Rising’ program. This project aims to integrate local trade, digital business processes, and agricultural tourism to modernize rural commerce.

Developed by the Vietnamese E-commerce Association, the provincial Department of Industry and Trade, and TikTok Shop, the program focuses on building sustainable digital capabilities. In its initial phase, approximately 80 businesses, small enterprises, and content creators will undergo intensive training in digital sales and livestreaming.

The region is a major agricultural hub, producing over seven million seedlings and five million ornamental plants annually, alongside fruits such as durian and rambutan. The digital shift has already shown significant results; during the 2026 Lunar New Year, TikTok Shop recorded approximately 200,000 orders for local seedlings and ornamental plants, doubling the original target. Future plans include expanding online sales for specialty fruits and utilizing digital vouchers to promote agricultural ecotourism.
