Choco Film adopts Blackmagic Design tools for NHK program editing
Osaka-based post-production company Choco Film has expanded its use of Blackmagic Design software to streamline television production. Following the adoption of DaVinci Resolve Studio by NHK, Choco Film integrated the software across its entire editing workflow, moving beyond its previous use solely for color grading.
The company utilizes DaVinci Resolve Studio and Blackmagic Cloud to manage high-volume content, such as the NHK cooking program ‘Gekitotsu Meshi Agare’, which requires handling large amounts of footage and hundreds of titles per episode. This integration allows for a seamless transition from offline to online editing and enables remote collaboration through Blackmagic Cloud.
By centralizing tasks like motion effects and AI-driven masking within a single environment, Choco Film has reduced production times and lowered costs associated with external plugins. Representative and editor Yuya Watanabe noted that the combination of editing software and cloud environments has significantly improved efficiency and reduced staff workload, even for lower-budget productions.
