Chocolate industry sales reach $24.2 billion amid market shifts
The chocolate industry continues to see strong consumer demand despite recent challenges involving cocoa price volatility, supply chain issues, and labor concerns. For the 52-week period ending June 14, 2026, total chocolate candy sales reached $24.2 billion, representing a 7.2% increase.
Subcategory performance was varied. Snack-size chocolate candy saw the highest percentage growth at 15.7%, totaling $1.9 billion. Smaller chocolate items (under 3.5-oz) in boxes, bags, or bars grew by 10.7% to reach $6.8 billion. In contrast, the sugar-free chocolate candy subcategory declined by 3%, totaling $304 million.
