Chocotorta ranked as the world's second best chocolate cake

The Argentine dessert chocotorta has been ranked as the second best chocolate cake in the world by TasteAtlas. The ranking, based on reviews from diners across various countries, placed the no-bake dessert just behind Sweden’s traditional kladdkaka.

Chocotorta is characterized by its simplicity, consisting of layers of chocolate cookies—often moistened with milk, coffee, or coffee liqueur—interspersed with a mixture of dulce de leche and cream cheese. TasteAtlas noted that the dessert shows Italian culinary influences and is inspired by tiramisu. While the recipe is a staple in Argentine homes, the platform observed that it is not frequently found on restaurant menus and remains relatively unknown outside of Argentina.

The top of the ranking included Sweden’s kladdkaka in first place, followed by Italy’s Caprese cake in third, the United States’ lava cake in fourth, and Brazil’s brigadeiro cake in fifth.
