Choi Yong-jin donates human tissue to aid 100 patients

A 56-year-old man, Choi Yong-jin, has passed away after donating human tissue that could aid the recovery and treatment of approximately 100 patients. According to the Korea Organ Donation Agency, the donation took place at Wonkwang University Sanbon Hospital on July 9.

Choi’s donated tissues include bone, fascia, heart valves, blood vessels, and pericardium. While organ donation typically assists a small number of recipients, human tissue donation can provide medical benefits to a much larger group of people suffering from functional impairments.

Despite undergoing dialysis for over a decade and dealing with mobility issues from a previous traffic accident, Choi maintained a positive outlook and had previously expressed his wish to donate to his family. His relatives described him as a reliable and caring figure who remained optimistic despite his health struggles.
