Chojnice municipality to install energy storage in eight public buildings
The Chojnice municipality is implementing a green transformation project to install energy storage systems in eight public and social buildings. The initiative aims to increase the self-consumption of electricity generated by existing photovoltaic installations, thereby reducing municipal infrastructure maintenance costs and stabilizing the local energy grid.
The project includes several educational and cultural sites, such as primary schools in Nieżychowice, Ogorzeliny, and Pawłowie, as well as community centers and cultural houses in Charzykowy, Krojanty, Silno, and Swornegacie. The total planned capacity for these storage units is 495 kWh, with a total power of 105.6 kW.
On a broader national scale in Poland, the popularity of micro-installations of renewable energy sources is rising. Data from the Energy Regulatory Office indicates that by the end of 2025, there were over 1.6 million micro-installations with a total installed capacity of nearly 13.9 GW. Experts suggest that when planning residential solar systems, homeowners should match system capacity to annual electricity consumption and consider energy storage to optimize usage.
