Chojnice wastewater plant to implement new odor-control technology
The Chojnice wastewater treatment plant is undergoing a technological overhaul to replace traditional open-pile composting with a modern membrane system. The project aims to increase processing capacity while significantly reducing odor nuisances for local residents.
The new facility will utilize concrete boxes equipped with aeration systems and continuous temperature monitoring. To prevent odors from escaping, the structures will be covered with a specialized Gore-Tex membrane. The total investment cost is estimated at up to 35 million PLN, with 25 million PLN sourced from a preferential loan known as ‘Szlamnik,’ provided by the Pomeranian Development Fund and the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Gdańsk.
