Chomedey remains a Liberal stronghold for 2026 elections

In the Chomedey riding, the Parti libéral du Québec (PLQ) maintains its historical stronghold heading into the 2026 provincial elections. Since its creation in 1980, the riding has consistently elected PLQ candidates, including Lise Bacon, Thomas Mulcair, Guy Ouellette, and Sona Lakhoyan Olivier.

Sona Lakhoyan Olivier, who has held the seat since 2022, currently serves as an independent following internal party shifts. She has faced an investigation by the ethics commissioner regarding the alleged partisan use of constituency resources.

Polling data from Qc125 suggests the PLQ is projected to secure approximately 50% of the vote in Chomedey, ahead of the Parti conservateur du Québec (21%), the Parti québécois (12%), and Coalition avenir Québec (12%). Seven candidates are scheduled to compete for the seat following recent electoral boundary revisions.
