Chongqing and Taichung host major marriage and wedding celebrations

Regional celebrations of marriage and romantic milestones were observed in Chongqing and Taichung.

In Chongqing, the Qixi Festival saw a significant surge in marriage registrations. According to the Chongqing Civil Affairs Bureau, 1,567 couples registered their marriages by 5:00 PM on August 19, including 546 couples from different regions. To manage the peak, registration offices in districts such as Liangjiang New Area and Yuzhong District implemented special service mechanisms, with some staff arriving an hour early to facilitate the process. Various districts also hosted collective wedding ceremonies and matchmaking events to support young people.

In Taichung, the city government held a lottery to select 66 couples for a unique joint wedding and honeymoon package. Out of 1,463 applicants, the winning couples faced a selection rate of approximately 4.88%. The selected participants will receive round-trip tickets to Okinawa, Japan, for a honeymoon following a high-altitude wedding ceremony scheduled for October 20. The lottery process was overseen by legal and information security experts to ensure transparency and fairness.
