Chongqing landslide evacuates six residents without casualties after early warning alerts

On July 6, a partial collapse occurred at the Gu Niu Tang landslide in the Wansheng Economic Development Zone of Chongqing, China. Six residents from four households were evacuated before the slide struck a farmhouse, preventing any injuries.

The evacuation was triggered by a monitoring system installed in 2025, which includes four GNSS devices, a base station and an intelligent alarm. Two devices issued alerts on June 30, prompting local geological teams to increase patrols and relocate the threatened families. The slide displaced about 1,500 m³ of material and destroyed one farm house, but no casualties were reported. Authorities are now expanding the survey area, defining danger zones and reinforcing surveillance to prevent further incidents.
