Chord Energy posts strong Q2 2026 results, raises dividend payout

Chord Energy Corporation reported second‑quarter 2026 adjusted free cash flow of $414 million, driven by oil production of 165.4 k barrels per day at the high end of its guidance. Capital spending was $416 million, modestly below the midpoint of the company’s plan, and net income reached $525.2 million.

The company returned $220 million to shareholders through a $1.30 per share base dividend and $147.4 million of share repurchases, representing 54 % of adjusted free cash flow. It announced a target to return at least 75 % of adjusted free cash flow to shareholders beginning in the third quarter, with leverage falling below a half‑turn at quarter‑end. Chord maintained its full‑year 2026 oil‑production outlook at 161 k barrels per day, 2 k above the original forecast, and raised its lease‑operating‑expense outlook to $10.30 per barrel of oil equivalent. The firm is expanding chemical‑treatment testing across more wells to improve base production.
