Choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa to debut in Lithuania
Renowned Belgian and Colombian choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa will present her work ‘Mammatus’ in Klaipėda, marking her first time performing in Lithuania. The piece, originally created a decade ago for Chicago’s Joffrey Ballet, will join the repertoire of the Klaipėda State Musical Theatre (KVMT).
Part of the dance triptych ‘Ugnis viduje’, the performance is scheduled for November 13 and 14 at the KVMT ‘Jūra’ stage. The choreography draws inspiration from the natural world, specifically the collective strength and individual struggle of black bird flocks. Ochoa noted that her perspective on the work has evolved through observing the effects of climate change, highlighting the tension between the power and fragility of nature.
The production utilizes music by Michael Gordon to evoke the unstoppable energy of the natural elements.
