Chorão biopic details emerge as José Loreto discusses role
Actor José Loreto has discussed his role in the upcoming biographical film ‘Chorão: Só os Loucos Sabem’, which is scheduled for theatrical release in March 2027. Loreto, who won a Kikito for Best Actor at the Gramado Film Festival for the role, described the process of portraying the late Charlie Brown Jr. vocalist as a significant personal achievement driven by his long-standing fandom.
The film is based on the book ‘Se Não Eu, Quem Vai Fazer Você Feliz?’ by Graziela Gonçalves, the singer’s widow. Loreto noted that the production aims to portray the complexities of Chorão’s life, moving beyond a romanticized image to show his personal struggles and the shadows of his character. His partner, Nanda Marques, portrays Graziela in the film.
In a separate reflection on the band’s history, drummer Bruno Graveto detailed his rapid transition into Charlie Brown Jr. in 2008. Following the departure of previous drummer Pinguim, Graveto was recruited by Chorão for a series of shows. His integration was immediate, involving a quick audition followed by a televised performance with MTV and Vanessa da Mata, before being officially introduced to the band’s fan clubs.
