Chotěboř police arrest serial thief using police dog

Police have arrested a 39-year-old man in Chotěboř following a series of thefts and acts of property damage. The suspect was apprehended after a police dog located him hiding in a shaft beneath a metal cover in a workshop during the night.

The arrest occurred during his most recent burglary at a commercial building. The suspect entered through a broken window, damaged a furniture and textile store, and stole cash from several registers. He also caused significant damage to doors, security systems, and server cables.

Investigations revealed the man is linked to at least twelve criminal incidents in the Havlíčkův Brod region. He has a prior criminal record for theft, having completed a two-year non-custodial sentence last March. The total damage caused by his thefts and property destruction is estimated to exceed 611,000 CZK.
