CHP Ankara leaders clash over party control and defections

CHP Ankara deputy chief Yüksel Işık announced that the party’s butlan administration sent a notarised notice demanding the party’s Ankara building be vacated by July 6, linking the move to the anniversary of the 1993 Sivas massacre and rejecting any attempt to force party members out.

Former CHP Keçiören mayor Mesut Özarslan described his 4½‑month independent period before joining the AK Party, citing a dispute with CHP leader Özgür Özel as decisive. Özarslan criticized Ankara mayor Mansur Yavaş, saying his intervention could have resolved the crisis, and warned that some CHP mayors might also shift to the AK Party.
