CHP Deputy calls for probe into public funds in liquidated investment funds
CHP Karabük Deputy Cevdet Akay is calling for a thorough investigation into whether public institutions and state banks held assets in the 131 investment funds that were recently liquidated. Following a capital markets crisis, Akay has emphasized the need to examine the financial portfolios of public entities to determine the extent of any losses or blocked funds.
Akay has raised several critical questions regarding the oversight of these investments, including whether regulatory bodies like the CMB, MKK, or Takasbank issued warnings about unusual price or liquidity movements. He is also seeking clarity on whether any conflicts of interest existed between public institutions and the fund managers or portfolio management companies involved.
In response to the crisis, victims of the fund liquidations are scheduled to hold a press conference at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) alongside Akay. The CHP has prepared a report on the crisis, and representatives have requested a meeting with Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek to present their grievances and demands.
