CHP Foreign Policy Board calls for trade suspension with Israel

The CHP Foreign Policy Board has called for Turkey to fully suspend all commercial relations with Israel to support international efforts regarding Gaza. The Board noted that several European nations, led by the United Kingdom, are moving toward necessary commercial sanctions.

Regarding regional security, the Board addressed the status of islands in the Aegean Sea, stating that the militarization of 16 out of 23 islands—which were designated as non-militarized under the Lausanne and Paris agreements—calls their sovereignty into question. The Board expressed support for Turkey’s recent demarche concerning the island of Kastellorizo (Meis).

On the issue of the Black Sea, the Board urged energetic diplomatic initiatives with Ukraine and members of the Coalition of Interested Parties to protect neutral Turkish commercial vessels from the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. Additionally, the Board suggested that the situation involving attacks on Saudi oil infrastructure should be addressed through back-channel diplomacy rather than military solutions, considering the complexities of Yemen and Houthi relations with Gulf countries.
