Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu pledges legislative action for internship and apprenticeship victims

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, leader of the Republican People's Party (CHP), met with a delegation of approximately 70 representatives of internship and apprenticeship victims at the party headquarters. The group is seeking to have their internship and apprenticeship insurance periods recognized as their official 4A social security start dates, a struggle that has persisted for nearly 40 years.

Kılıçdaroğlu announced that the CHP will prepare a research motion for the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) and subsequently submit a legislative proposal to address these grievances. He emphasized that the content of the research motion, including data on workplace accidents and individual struggles, should be provided by the victims themselves to ensure accuracy. He stated, “We will be your spokespersons in the TBMM.”

Representatives, including Murat Aydın of the Internship and Apprenticeship Insurance Victims Federation and Suzan Dumanlı of the Ankara Internship and Apprenticeship Victims Association, highlighted the risks of workplace accidents and the legal discrepancies caused by the Vocational Education Law of 1986. They argued that the initial insurance entry dates must be treated as the official start of long-term social security.

In a separate political development, CHP Istanbul Deputy Yüksel Mansur Kılınç submitted a research motion and several questions to the TBMM regarding a suspected fund scandal. Kılınç raised concerns about potential money laundering and market manipulation, calling for investigations into high-value financial transfers and the role of the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK).
