CHP Spokesperson calls for opposition unity amid municipal operations

Republican People's Party (CHP) Spokesperson Müslim Sarı has called for solidarity among opposition parties following operations targeting ten opposition municipalities over the last ten days. Speaking at a press conference in Izmir, Sarı emphasized that the upcoming elections for deputy mayors serve as a critical ground for opposition unity.

Sarı expressed concern regarding the use of judicial processes as political tools, questioning why investigations appear focused primarily on opposition-led municipalities. He criticized the practice of pretrial detention, arguing that arresting elected officials without evidence of flight risk or tampering with evidence constitutes an insult to the voters who elected them.

The spokesperson stated that the CHP’s ‘red line’ is preventing these municipalities from being absorbed into the People's Alliance. He noted that despite political differences, the opposition is working to ensure that municipal institutions do not transition to the ruling coalition, even if it requires political sacrifice.
