Turkish Football Federation faces backlash over amateur club fees

The CHP Sports Board has criticized the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) for implementing new fee structures that place a heavy economic burden on amateur football clubs. According to the board, increased costs for licenses, participation fees, and guarantees are pushing clubs toward closure. Specifically, license visa fees rose from 100 TL to 500 TL, potentially adding 50,000 to 75,000 TL in costs per club. For Regional Amateur League (BAL) clubs, total costs have reportedly reached 1 million TL due to high participation and guarantee requirements.

In response to these pressures, approximately 600 clubs have reportedly decided not to participate in the upcoming season. The CHP Sports Board has called upon the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the TFF to withdraw these practices to protect the foundation of Turkish sports.

Following the backlash, the TFF has reportedly made a concession by reducing the 'Filiz Lisans' (first-time license) and visa fees from 500 TL to 250 TL for players born in 2005 and later. However, critics argue this reduction is insufficient to address the broader financial challenges, such as high transfer contribution fees and other administrative costs facing amateur organizations.
