CHP wins 14 metropolitan and 466 local municipalities in Turkey's 2024 local elections

The Republican People's Party (CHP) emerged as the leading force in Turkey's 31 March 2024 local elections. The party secured control of 14 metropolitan municipalities, including Istanbul, Ankara and İzmir, and added 21 provincial municipalities to its tally. It also won 395 district municipalities and 48 town (belde) municipalities, bringing its total to 478 local authorities across the country.

These results expand CHP's presence in both major cities and smaller communities, underscoring a broad base of voter support that could shape municipal policy and local governance throughout Turkey.
