CH&PA enforces removal of containers from Herstelling residential lot

The Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) has initiated enforcement action against the unauthorised storage of more than 45 shipping containers on a residential lot in Herstelling, East Bank Demerara.

During a weekend inspection of Parcel 1614, Plot B, officers found the containers being stored on land designated strictly for single-family residential use. The Authority noted that the stacking of the containers poses safety risks to individuals in the surrounding area.

A Notice of Contravention has been served, ordering an immediate halt to all storage activities and requiring the removal of the containers within the week. The CH&PA stated it will continue to monitor housing schemes to ensure compliance with planning regulations and protect the integrity of residential communities.
