CHRAJ and UNFPA intensify fight against gender-based violence in Ghana

The Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), has launched efforts to combat sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) in Ghana.

As part of a nationwide project titled ‘Scaling Up Access to Rights-Based Integrated Gender-Based Violence Services,’ stakeholders met in the Asokore Mampong Municipality to discuss prevention and protection measures. The initiative aims to improve access to health, legal, and psychosocial support for survivors.

Participants included representatives from state institutions, traditional and faith-based organizations, and civil society. Discussions focused on gender equality, technology-facilitated violence, and affirmative action. CHRAJ Deputy Commissioner Mercy Larbi noted that approximately half of the recommendations received from international bodies regarding Ghana’s human rights situation pertain to gender equality and gender-based violence.
