Chris Avellone alleges BioWare producer screened LinkedIn likes for hiring
Video game designer and writer Chris Avellone has alleged that a producer at BioWare used LinkedIn activity to influence hiring decisions. According to Avellone, the producer would review the posts liked by job applicants and advocate against hiring individuals if their political or social views did not align with the producer's own perspectives.
Avellone, known for his work on Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, first alluded to these experiences in November 2024, suggesting the matter could have legal implications. He provided further details in October 2026, coinciding with the announcement that Electronic Arts had closed BioWare.
While Avellone noted that professional suitability should be based on skill and experience, he argued that political or social disagreements should not be a primary criterion for exclusion. He did not name the producer involved, nor did he provide documentation to confirm if these actions were official studio policy or if they resulted in specific hiring rejections. BioWare and Electronic Arts have not issued a public response to these allegations.
