Chris Beck holds town hall in Milton-Freewater for Oregon CD2 race

Democratic candidate Chris Beck held a town hall in Milton-Freewater on Sept. 11 as part of his campaign tour for Oregon’s 2nd Congressional District. The event, attended by approximately 15 people, marked Beck’s first visit to the community.

Beck, a former member of the Oregon House of Representatives and former U.S. Department of Agriculture employee, discussed his background in rural economic development policy. Local organizer Roger Lemstrom noted that candidates rarely visit the area, emphasizing the need for representatives to engage directly with the community.

In response to criticisms regarding local engagement, a staff member for incumbent Representative Cliff Bentz stated that Bentz met with Milton-Freewater city officials in January to discuss water infrastructure, data centers, and tax changes. Bentz has previously cited disruptive protests as a reason for avoiding general town hall meetings, though he does meet with various interest groups.
