Chris Brown Pleads Guilty to Affray in London Nightclub Attack, Faces October Sentencing

Grammy‑winning singer Chris Brown pleaded guilty to an affray charge at Southwark Crown Court in London for a February 2023 incident at the private Tape nightclub in Mayfair. Prosecutors say Brown struck music producer Abraham Diaw twice on the head with a glass bottle, while his co‑defendant Omololu Akinlolu (known as Hoody Baby) punched the victim and kicked him as he lay on the floor. The victim was taken to St Mary’s Hospital with head and knee injuries.

The guilty plea reduced the case from earlier charges of grievous bodily harm, assault and possession of an offensive weapon. Both Brown and Akinlolu remain free on a £5 million bail package, allowing Brown to continue his R&B Tour with Usher across the United States and Europe. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for 26 October, with the maximum penalty for affray being three years’ imprisonment.

Prosecutor Claire Campbell characterized the attack as “vicious and unprovoked,” and the court will determine whether a custodial sentence, a suspended term or another penalty is appropriate.
