Chris Evans teases ‘brutal’ return as Steve Rogers in Avengers: Doomsday

Actor Chris Evans has teased that his return as Steve Rogers in the upcoming Marvel film ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ will be ‘brutal’. Speaking at Fan Expo Boston, Evans discussed the storytelling approach of directors Anthony and Joe Russo, noting their tendency to push the character to his physical and emotional limits.

Evans described the directors' philosophy of heroism as someone who ‘gets punched so many times but still gets up.’ He suggested that the new film will serve as a deep examination of the character’s nature and values. To maintain secrecy during production, Evans revealed that his character was given the code name ‘Luke Cage’ on call sheets to prevent leaks.

The film, which features Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, is scheduled for release on December 18, 2026. The plot is expected to involve a large ensemble cast, including members of the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and the Thunderbolts.
