Chris Flores exposes TV industry body‑image pressure in Brazil

Brazilian TV presenter Chris Flores revealed that early in her television career she was pressured to alter her appearance to fit a narrow “standard” for women on‑screen. In an interview she said directors suggested she get silicone implants, shorten her skirts and remove her glasses, which she described as “a great violence.”

Flores, who began in magazines before moving to shows such as “Hoje em Dia” and now co‑hosts “Melhor da Tarde” on Band, emphasized that she chose to undergo a corrective eye‑surgery for personal reasons, not at anyone’s urging. She stated she refused to conform to the demanded “boazuda” image and warned she would leave the job rather than change herself.

Her comments highlight ongoing debates in Brazil’s media about appearance expectations for female presenters and broader issues of gender‑based pressure in the entertainment industry.
