Chris Francoeur posts 59 at Utah Championship as Utah high school volleyball teams top preseason rankings

Massachusetts‑born rookie Chris Francoeur recorded a 59‑stroke, course‑record round in the second round of the Korn Ferry Tour Utah Championship at Ogden Golf & Country Club, becoming the first sub‑60 round on the tour this year and the 16th in its history. The 27‑year‑old needed a par on the final hole to join the elite group of golfers with a sub‑60 round and finished at 17‑under, taking the lead.

In Utah high school girls volleyball, the Deseret News preseason coaches poll named five defending state champions as the top teams in their classifications for the 2026 season. Corner Canyon (6A), Woods Cross (5A), North Sanpete (3A), North Summit (2A) and Panguitch (1A) were all voted No. 1, while Orem (4A) leads the poll despite not holding the previous title.

These developments highlight a strong start to Utah’s spring sports calendar, with a historic golf performance and high expectations for the state’s top high‑school volleyball programs.
