Chris Hansen criticizes casting of Robert Pattinson in ‘Primetime’ film
Journalist Chris Hansen has expressed skepticism regarding the upcoming A24 film ‘Primetime’, which features Robert Pattinson playing a fictionalized version of him. The movie is inspired by Hansen’s work on the ‘To Catch a Predator’ series.
Hansen stated on the ‘Serialously’ podcast that he was not involved in the production or casting decisions. He suggested that the production team may have used his name primarily for commercial purposes, noting, ‘My suspicion is that they used my name because it helps in a commercial enterprise.’ While acknowledging Pattinson’s popularity, Hansen remarked that he did not get to choose the actor and had previously envisioned Denis Leary for the role.
The film, directed by Lance Oppenheim, is scheduled to debut at the Venice Film Festival before its theatrical release on September 25. Hansen indicated he intends to attend a private screening to evaluate the film’s accuracy and dramatization.
