Chris Hansen refuses to watch A24 film Primetime over NDA dispute

Journalist Chris Hansen has refused to attend a private screening of ‘Primetime’, an upcoming A24 film inspired by his career on ‘To Catch a Predator’, due to a dispute over a non-disclosure agreement (NDA).

Hansen stated in an interview on Fox News that the agreement presented by A24 was “very restrictive” and sought to have him “sign away my rights to my name, image and brand” as well as potential legal claims arising from the film. He noted that his legal team had reviewed the document and advised against signing it.

Sources close to A24 and the film’s production have disputed Hansen’s characterization, asserting that the document was a standard NDA required for all preview audiences to prevent spoilers and protect intellectual property. These sources claim the agreement did not involve relinquishing rights to his name or brand.

Directed by Lance Oppenheim and starring Robert Pattinson as Hansen, ‘Primetime’ is scheduled to premiere at the Venice Film Festival before its theatrical release on September 25, 2026.
